2018 Honoree – Cynthia Colalillo

Cynthia Colalillo

Cyndi Colalillo grew up in South River and graduated from South River High School in 1975. She attended Glassboro State College and graduated with honors in 1979. On September 1st of that same year, Cyndi began teaching in South River, where she also coached field hockey and cheerleading in the early 80s and 90s.

Cyndi’s other accomplishments include having chaired the committee for Special Olympics which took place every spring at Thompson Park in Jamesburg, and taking a seat on the Middlesex County Professional Development Committee for several years. She also served as an Achievement Coach for the district, worked closely with NJEA as the lead person for the NJEA Priority Schools Initiative, and was named Teacher of the Year in 2006. From 2006-2017, Cyndi served as the South River Education Association President/Co-President.

Since 2002, Cyndi was the District Coach for the Fast ForWord program (Scientific Learning Company). In November of 2016 Cyndi’s school became a National Reference Site, which entails being nationally recognized as a school to visit to see how well the program is utilized. Her biggest accomplishment as an educator was being a devoted teacher to her hundreds of students, with whom she has attended many important milestones in their lives – marriages, babies, etc. That is what she is most proud of!

Cyndi is excited to start the next Chapter in her life, spending more time with husband Pete, daughters, Genevieve and Amy, Thomas Devlin and Vincent, and her sweet grandson Dominic Vincenzo Quaglieri. Her heart will always hold a special place for South River!
